Here's what's happening in movie theatres in September:

Simon Birch, a lovely, captivating film about an unusual little boy, opens just after Labor Day.

Matt Damon and Edward Horton star in "The Rounders", about high-stakes underground and underworld poker.

"Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" is the age-old question, dealt with in this nearly-true movie about pop idol Frankie Lymon, played by Lorenz Tate and the three women he was married to....at the same time! Ah, those '50's!

John Waters is at it again, this time with a film called "Pecker" (what else?) from Fine Line. Edward Furlong, playing a blue-color teen (Pecker) becomes the toast of the art world. Also starred are Christina Ricci, Mary Kay Place, Martha Plimpton. Pecker, by the way, is a nickname referring to the main character's eating habits.

OCTOBER

Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton are two Corn Belt folks who happen $4 million in a plane crash in

"A Simple Plan," But the plan they hatch turns not-so-simple.

"Apt Pupil" is about a teen who is obsessed with the Holocaust (Brad Renfro) who finds and blackmails a former Nazi concentration Camp guard (Sir Ian McKellen) living in his neighborhood.

Rushmore stars Talia Shire's son, Jason Schwartzman, debuting as a preppy who falls in love with Olivia Williams in this off-beat comedy. You know it's off-beat, because she's infatuated with married, bored, rich Bill Murray!

New films starring Michael Caine and Michael Keaton, John Travolta, Woody Harrelson, a re-make of Hitchcock;s classic "Psycho," a movie about) "Antz," another '70's adventure about a Bowie-like rock star and the 9th(?) Star Trek, directed by Next Generation's Number One, Jonathan Frakkes, with Patrick Stewart, Data, Counselor Troi, our favorite Klingon and Master Crusher battling against the Federation are just some of what's coming up near holiday time....and which we'll let you know details about in a few weeks, right here.

Meanwhile, watch for Don Fass' Weird Drive-In web site with cult, strange and frightful flicks premiering Sept.19.
